Silence

The silence of the sterile environment. When you let that momentary spark of brilliance slip away, i wonder how many years it will take before that idea comes back, if ever.

Diversion

battled with inexplicable fatigue for much of the whole day, even when i was driving my parents to dinner at some obscure eating place behind the old Tang Dynasty City, i really felt the compulsion to just jump into bed and let the exhaustion seep away

After coming back and practicing with my guitar, ( i say practice because the 4th string has broke so i can't play many chords without the string) so just practice strumming and plucking with the few strings that are left.

And inexplicably, i am refreshed. think its all about using your other side of your brain.
Ok, off for a short run. I need my 2nd wind.

Opportunity Cost

Woke up from a 11 hour nap today, and read a special report on Business Degrees (MBAs) in Singapore. Timely, this article. The dean Cheng Han had just announced that Law School will be offering double degrees (for freshmen) from this year onwards. (Law and Economics, Law and Business etc) 6 years, these courses, but destination point: 2 degrees. I really would like to pursue an MBA but it will mean studying for another 2 years ( a prospect that is getting less and less attractive as time goes by in law school, and it would mean my dream of financial independence and moving out will be put on hold for at least another two more years) But then again, i am the sort who would read The Business Times for fun (yes, u are reading a blog of a nutcase). Ah well.Thats' all in the future. Right now my only worry is how to start the Company Law assignment due next week. Not good.

Gonna get lunch. Hungry. Agent Jared signing off.

Tenacity

My determination to continue what i am doing whatsoever the circumstances amazes me.

Right now I'm in the room, and its midday and the sun is shining my way. even with the blinds down, the walls are heating up and I'm, slowly roasting in the sweltering heat wave. It is a glorious day and I'm not in sentosa nor am I going Mambo, cos I need to finish this (Izzy, you don't know how lucky u are!) I wonder is it pure lazyness or inertia on my part in refusing to move to the library, and just stay here, slowling cooking away.

In another note, Macs breakfast with Izzy has now become a highlight of the day due to the scrambled eggs that come withn the big breakfast. :] Simple pleasures in life can't be beat

Escapism

One of the nicest things in life is waking up and looking at the rain smatter your window panes, and thinking that you've just woke up in your apartment in London and you have nothing to do for the day except hugging your bolster and getting more sleep.

Strain

I'm beginning to feel the kick of strained muscles after a day of swimming laps in the morning and badminton in the afternoon

Nonetheless, nothing beats the strain of my brain in deciphering this incoherent mess
[Then again, its THIS, rather than C++ programming or Physics problems. I'm grateful]

Flabbergasted

I'm still shell shocked.

Its 6am and Im still hard at work drafting my affidavit-in-chief when i heard the PGP intercom sound with its jingle. Followed by a pontianak sounding voice saying "testing testing 1, 2 3... testing testing 3, 2, 1" over and over again.

Does this happen every day?
Have I been sleeping through this every single day that i have been here?
I wonder how did i ever do it
but then the whole of PGP remains unfazed as well

ah well, back to AEIC. Still some problems left that i could not explain away. ah well.

Excursion

The storm has died down, i am not looking forward to next weekend when i will see them and get it from them (again) its terrible. but for now, i'm happy here. really happy. Its like how Florida would feel once the typhoon has pass, they aren't thinking about the next one (if only i'd stop having recurrent dreams about people shoutings and screaming, but then thats another thing altogether..... i need to see a shrink)

WENT EXCURSION TO RAJAH & TANN TODAY!!
heh actually was Advocacy lessons, but then it was so cool, we get to sit in this huge conference room at a Big 4 top law firm, where the view of the Singapore River was awesome... took a foto of the view, Its now the wallpaaper on my fone, telling me to work hard so maybe next time can go work at Rajah and Tann... heheh. My tutor was very nice, ask whether next week want him to cater food for us or not, so of cos we said yes! haha, but i guess this is just the glamour part of law... Ive already seen my fair share of sai kang in school heh

I thank God for providing me with a fun-loving class, we seem to get along pretty alright (no condemned people in our grp), and after Advo we went to eat together.. heh, was very happy cos discovered this store called "Lunchbox" which sells Jap bento food, and its charged by weight, so U see me taking the Unagi, the Teriyaki chicken, tempura fish etc.... Jap cravings satisfied for the week! think i will eat it everytime after advo. :) love discovering new eating places *munch munch*

Misconceptions

Everyone seems to think that being the only child would mean that you are spoilt rotten.

Au contraire, there will be exceptions, and i exemplify that.
I guess i can always see it as emotional trauma and financial deprivation
you can be the best there can be but it won't matter to them
Honour your father and mother, filial piety yes yes yes
But if your own parents pronounce condemnation on you,
you have to be at peace with yourself or else you'd just lose it
I dread going back every weekend to face the same sort of rejection
I know i am still dependant financially
But right now i have to get a job, and study at the same time
I cannot be bitter, i must be strong
there must be a way to pull through this
Everyday just shouting and cursing in my face
when its their own demons they should face
I seek not acceptance
But release from these shackles that bind me so
I shall be strong

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.

Its called fantasy

In my current apathy to law texts, I'm surfing the UK rail network webpage.

I nearly cried (I dont know... cant put my finger to it... maybe u can tell me why???) when I was reading about the student's railpass which allows u unlimited rail travel within the UK.. I imagined meeting Chee Hong at the Edinburgh Railway station and scolding him for being late and he apologising in the way that only chee hong does.... I thought of going for shopping trips in Harrods of London with Soek whom I haven't seen since Secondary School and whom i miss chatting with.. she's studying law in harvard that brilliant girl.... or discussing Lomography, loneliness and lingering with Joseph (Mr 001) in bleak bleak Wales, or just trekking by myself in the Umberlands and moors of the interior country, and experiencing firsthand the stark bleakness of Emily Bronte's Whuthering Heights.

My heart is breaking.
